Sport and relaxation in a flooded mine.
Especially in the summer months, Matylda, a water reservoir located at the northern edge of the town of Most is a popular resting place. The water reservoir was created by the flooding of the former Vrbenský mine and its area comprises of nearly forty hectares of water. On the eastern banks of the reservoir, those who like sunbathing and swimming find green grass lawns, a sandy beach as well as inflatable water attractions. During the fishing season, the forested western banks of Matylda attract fishermen from far and wide. Around this part of the lake it is possible to do water-skiing and jet skiing.
The bank of the water area is bordered by a four-kilometre course perfect for jogging and in-line skating. Visitors can also exercise on outdoor exercise machines. For lovers of other sports activities, the area offers the possibility of flying a kite or taking a ride on a boat as well as pedal boats. Families with children appreciate the barbecuing area and children’s playground. In winter, a cross-country ski trail is traditionally prepared here. In the area, there are several cycling paths for non-demanding cyclists. There is also some space allocated for camping, which is open from May 5 to September 30.
